Mel Cryar

Mel Cryar, a self-taught artist from Louisiana, draws inspiration from her background in interior design.

Mel is drawn to representational subjects, especially seascapes, landscapes and still life, interpreting them with a loose style and vibrant colors. Her art beautifully captures the world as she observes it at specific moments in time, exquisitely capturing the effects of changing light and weather.

Working primarily with oil in her home studio, Mel also enjoys plein air painting in middle Tennessee and along the coasts of Florida and South Carolina.

She has showcased her work in local shows and art events, and has taught various classes and workshops.

Mel resides in Franklin, Tennessee.
